Crew Profile

Captain

Fabrizio Oddone - Italian, 34

SAIL AND WORK EXPERIENCE: he started his career as a young but gifted dinghy instructor and he rapidly improved his preparation by participating in many races in Mediterranean Sea. His first important experience was onboard “Amer Sports One”, the VOR 60 who successfully participated in Volvo Ocean Race, where he raced on for three years. Afterwards he took part in the Rolex Middle Sea Race several times as well in Rolex Swan Cup, Giraglia Rolex Cup and Brindisi-Corfù races: sailing as a bowman and in long races also as helmsman. During these years he also enjoyed participating in Panerai Classic Yachts Challenge with Madifra. But racing wasn’t his only interest. Fabrizio spent some time in Caribbean where he worked as a skipper onboard charter yachts and catamarans, occasionally going scuba diving as he has a PADI Divemaster. In Antigua he embarked on Swan 100FD “Fantasticaaa” that from Panama Canal brought him to New Zealand, sailing through the Pacific Ocean. When he returned to Europe he increased his Swan expertise being the Captain of a Swan 62ft and later it was offered to him a bigger chance. Fabrizio spent one year in Finland following the construction of the new Swan 80FD and managing her delivery from Baltic sea to Mediterranean, passing through the Kiel canal. He has always delivered yachts from 60‘ to 100’ around Mediterranean, Caribbean Seas and Atlantic Ocean but with the delivery of the SW102 Almagores II he fully entered in the Southern Wind world. The year after, he decided to repeat this incredible voyage sailing for more than 7.000 nm from South Africa to Italy onboard of the newest SW94 Windfall, as her Captain in February 2013. However his commitment to this yacht started earlier in October, when he took part in final fittings of the yacht in the Southern Wind Shipyard (Cape Town – SA). After an intense and successful summer charter season in Med with Windfall, now Fabrizio has become the new captain of Cape Arrow and he is ready to sail towards new charter adventures and
regattas in Caribbean waters!

First mate

Carlos Carrer - Spanish, 46

SAIL AND WORK EXPERIENCE: Carlos, among his fellow sailors, is the one with the highest number of deliveries from South Africa. Furthermore he has been the First Mate of several SW yachts (SW72 Kiboko, SW 94 Kiboko Dos and SW102 Almagores II) having also participated in the delivery of these from Cape Town to Mediterranean. Recently, Carlos had the chance to be part of the delivery crew of the latest built SW94 Windfall and SW82 Feelin’ Good during their maiden voyages from South Africa to Genoa. He is a very reliable person and he has a great sense of duty, making him an ideal choice as a First mate onboard, both when sailing and when enjoying charters. Speaks currently English, Italian and Spanish. Carlos is a very friendly First mate whom will be happy to share with you his sailing adventures or, if you like, to arrange a game fishing together.

Chef

Sophie Jenot - French, 29

SAIL AND WORK EXPERIENCE: Sophie has gained a wide experience in sailing because of the participation in many deliveries and regattas (i.e. Middle sea race, Maxi yacht regatta). In only six years she sailed more than 40.000 nm through the Mediterranean, Caribbean, South Pacific (New-Zealand, Australia, Fiji waters) and the Indian Ocean. During this period abroad she had the opportunity to learn new food recipes and to enhance her cooking background, already well broadened in Milan-Italy at the “Pellaprat” restaurant. She will then surprise guests with a mix of flavours, colours or she will delight them with light but sophisticated Mediterranean recipes. Sophie is definitely a multitasking chef and a hard worker on deck. Furthermore she will be able to properly welcome guests onboard as she is fluent in French, English, Italian and basic in Spanish and German languages.

Hostess

Lana Fruhwirth - Croatian, 31

SAIL AND WORK EXPERIENCE: Lana has worked for more than four years onboard SW100 Farandwide where she improved her expertise of hostess, especially because of several summer charters. She has indeed strong hospitality and communication skills beside to a very good eye for details. Additionally Lana can also speak English, Italian and Croatian very fluently. During your charter Lana will be always at your disposal to assist you in your requests. A silver service of all meals and wines, including welcome drinks, aperitif, will be offered at the time you most prefer. She can easily arrange, along with the chef, formal dinners for you and your guests, in order to add a further touch of elegance and glamour to your charter.
